Crusaders start fast, finish third in C-1

Lincoln Christian cruised past Norfolk Catholic 67-50 Saturday in the Class C-1 state tournament third-place game at Lincoln Southwest.

The Crusaders (24-5) hit four of their nine three-pointers in the first quarter to build a 29-10 lead. Chloe Dworak scored 10 of her 21 points in the first quarter, and Christian hit 9 of 10 free throws to start the game.

Emi Hollenbeck added 14 points for the Crusaders, with 10 in the first half. The Knights (21-7) were led by Geena Piper's 11 points.

GUARDIAN ANGELS CC 69, SUTTON 28

Guardian Angels Central Catholic took a 35-10 halftime lead and went on to a 69-28 win against Sutton in the third-place game at Lincoln Southwest. Jenny Knobbe led GACC with 11 points, eight in the first quarter. She was held scoreless in the second half. Breanna Kriekemeier also had 11 points, six before halftime. The Bluejays hit five three-pointers, including two by Krista Fischer. Sutton was led by Sydney Griess with seven points.

HOWELLS-DODGE 59, BLUE HILL 52

Howells-Dodge scored 21 points in the final quarter to pull away and defeat Blue Hill 59-51. Samantha Brester had 30 points, including 6 of 13 free throws to lead Howells-Dodge. Blue Hill got 26 points, including three three-pointers, from Mackenzie Willicott.

STUART 47, SANDHILLS-THEDFORD 41

Stuart took a nine-point halftime lead, then staved off a fierce Sandhills/Thedford rally to earn a 47-41 win. Stuart was 16-of-24 from the free-throw line, including 9-of-14 in the second half. Harlee Fischer and Jaden Schafer each had 10 points for Stuart. Sandhills/Thedford was led by Avery Taylor with 12 points.
