State boys basketball third-place roundup: Canfield leads Christian past Broken Bow

Caleb Canfield capped a strong state tournament, scoring 26 points in leading No. 6 Lincoln Christian to a 68-49 victory against No. 7 Broken Bow in the Class C-1 boys state tournament third-place game Saturday at Lincoln East High School.

Canfield, a 6-foot-2 junior, made three three-pointers in the game and scored eight points in the third quarter.

Justin Bubak scored 15 points and Treyson Bigler added 11 for Christian, which finished 20-8.

Christian jumped to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter, and led by seven at the break before using a 24-point third-quarter spurt to pull away.

Padyn Borders and Tanner Linn each scored 11 points for the Indians (23-5).

C-2, BRLD 73, Yutan 62: Kenyan Lovejoy scored 20 points, including eight in a big second-quarter scoring run, to lead No. 4 Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur.

Lucas Vogt and Trent Gatewood each added 12 points for the Wolverines (26-3).

Mason Timm led No. 3 Yutan (25-3) with 24 points, and Brady Timm added 11.

Lane Huebert led the No. 4 Huskies (21-5) with 29 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.

Ty Hahn and Cole Fossenbarger scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Johnson-Brock.

The game was tied at 36-36 entering the fourth, but the Broncos hit several free throws early in the quarter, and Christen hit a three-pointer, allowing Mullen to pull away.

Josh Hinrichs led No. 4 Giltner (20-8) with 14 points.
