C-2 state, Centennial vs. Ponca, 3/9

Centennial's Jackson Hirschfeld (3) dribbles past Ponca's Connor Day (20) during a Class C-2 boys state tournament first-round game at Lincoln Southeast High School in 2017.

Jackson Hirschfeld had a memorable senior season on the football field, helping lead Centennial to a Class C-2 state championship.

The Broncos senior is having a big season on the basketball court, too.

Hirschfeld scored 36 points in Centennnial's 53-45 win against then-No. 2 Sutton on Friday. He was 11-of-17 from the field and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. He added 30 points in a 58-45 victory over Shelby-Rising City on Tuesday.

Here's more on Hirschfeld, who is averaging 21.9 points per game.

Favorite sport: "Either basketball or football, depending on which one I am playing at the time. So right now I would say basketball, but a couple months ago when I was still playing football, I would have said football."

College plans: "I plan on attending Concordia University while studying business and playing basketball."

Best high school memory so far: "My best high school sports memory so far has been when Wyatt (Ehlers) and I connected for the touchdown in overtime of the (Class C-2) state finals in football and then the next play we connected again on the two-point conversion to win the state title. That was a super-special moment and I’m glad I could share it with Wyatt, one of my best friends, because we had put in so much time for that moment; when we were really young, we used to always pretend that we were in Memorial Stadium playing for a state championship, and getting to experience that for real was a very special moment. My senior teammates and I have been through a lot together, and getting to end our careers in that way is something very special."

Pregame rituals: "More just keeping the same routine or trying to throughout the day just to get in rhythm."

Favorite postgame snack or meal: "My mom’s scrambled eggs that she has waiting for me when I get home after every game."

Favorite pro athlete: Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen.

My three go-to apps: Apple Music, Twitter, Snapchat.

Best way to pass the time on road trips: "I always bring my Rubik’s cube on the bus and mess around with that and try to improve on my best time. Also just hanging out with the guys makes time go by pretty quick, as well."
