Junior Katelyn Thompson won two events, including the 100-meter hurdles, where she edged Kearney's Elle Dahlgren, in helping the Lincoln Southwest girls capture the team title at the Pat Murphy track meet Saturday in Fremont.
Thompson won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 2½ inches, and finished runner-up in the 100 and 200 dashes.
The junior won the 100 hurdles in 14.83 seconds, edging Dahlgren by two one-hundredths of a second (:14.85). Both are season-best times.
The Southwest girls also got first-place finishes from Kate Dilsaver (800), Brianna Rinn (1,600), Lindsey Blehm (3,200), Kaylee Berry (high jump) and Jaden Ferguson (triple jump).
Fremont edged Southwest by one point, 152½-151½, for the boys team title. The Tigers clinched with a win in the 4x400 relay.
Zach Jarosz (200 and long jump), Preston Green (110 hurdles) and Jesse Lewis (triple jump) won events for the Hawks.
North Star's Liem Chot won the 3,200 in a season-best 9:39.34, edging Southwest's Tyler Boyle (9:40.30) by less than a second.
Southeast's Skyler Peterson won the boys pole vault (14-6).
Lincoln Southwest 2, Grand Island 1: The No. 6 Silver Hawks (8-2) kept the No. 10 Islanders scoreless for the first 68 minutes. In the first minute, Grand Island goalkeeper Juan Castro was sent off with a red card, giving Southwest a one-man advantage. Griffin Wilkins quickly scored in the first half as the Silver Hawks led 1-0 heading into the break.
Parker Jeppson added the second goal in the 49th minute to put Southwest up 2-0. The Silver Hawks picked up a red card of their own, setting the field back to even strength. The Islanders scored with under 13 minutes to go, cutting their deficit to 2-1. Dylan Tridle earned the win in net as Southwest held off the Grand Island comeback.
Norris 4, Lincoln Lutheran 0: Ben VanBrocklin, Keegan Johnson, Dominic Pelini and Harrison Boe each scored a goal for the Titans. Johnson added two assists. Brantley Eklund picked up the shutout win for Norris.
Lincoln East 6, Lincoln Pius X 1: Haley Peterson wasted no time, scoring two goals in the first half to propel Lincoln East. The Spartans held a 3-1 lead at halftime, then Briley Hill extended the lead to three goals before Olivia Kulger scored two more. Amanda Finnell picked up the win in net for the Spartans.
Lincoln Lutheran/Raymond Central 4, Norris 0: A group effort pushed the Warriors over the top, as four different players scored. Elayne Poppe, Kaitlyn Wendt, Sierra Springer and Raegan Holle each had a goal.
Wahoo/BN/LL 15, Branched Oak 5: The Warriors got six runs in the third inning and five in the fourth to slam the door on Branched Oak in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament semifinals in Wahoo.
Noah Sabatka piched four of the five innings and allowed just two hits, and Colby Bliss went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bliss had a double and a triple, and Karson Hesser went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Wahoo will play Platteview in Monday's championship game in Fort Calhoun.
