COMMENT: Everyone assumes that if tragedy had not struck with Oscar Taveras, the Cardinals would not have a RF problem now; that he would have been the big bat they needed — a No. 3 hitter for 15 years. I know you can trace back some of the challenges his untimely death caused, but the Cards still would have needed more offense. In the short time he was in the majors, he did not rake, although he did have the potential. It seems the Cards have been trying to fill that hole for some time, but there were more holes to fill than what Oscar would have been able to cover.

QUESTION: Do the Cardinals have a pretty good feel on whether they'll get to be a player for Yolbert Sanchez, the 21-year-old Cuban prospect? If they brought him in for a workout, they must have some feel that he may actually wait until July 2 to sign, right? Do you have any scouting knowledge on Sanchez?
