Senate Supreme Court

Sen. Ben Sasse (right) confers with Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake as President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.

I want Nebraskans to know that they should be very proud of Sen. Ben Sasse.

I watched most of the first three days of Judiciary Committee hearings on Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. Sen. Sasse’s demeanor and intelligent questioning contrasted sharply to the Democrat committee members.

This was on display in the case of my Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono, whose performance was embarrassing. Each day, she read her questions, seldom looking up from the script, and interrupted Judge Kavanaugh’s attempts to answer.

Would that Hawaii would have a senator of the caliber of Ben Sasse.
