As a UNL graduate, I have deep concern of the TurningPoint USA agenda.
Specifically worrisome is the alleged targeting of so-called “liberal professors” who may pursue critical thinking instructional methods or academic freedom in disciplines that may appear to be liberal in content to a highly opinionated conservative individual.
Teaching economics' “quantity theory of money” could be labeled a liberal bias. Teaching “global warming” could be labeled a liberal bias.
Teaching “philosophy” could be labeled a liberal bias. Teaching "progressive tax policy” could be labeled a liberal bias. Teaching government and its role in “codes, imports, exports or environment” could be labeled a liberal bias.
I am also quite concerned with the opinions of some state senators. Sen. Steve Erdman wished to take Nebraska’s public school teacher certification requirements back to a period immediately following World War II. Now he wishes to take college professors back to the same era by removing tenure.
Sen. Erdman, would you please walk the walk by returning to farming with a 1940’s “A” John Deere, “M” Farmall tractor or a pull-type Allis Chalmers SP 60 combine?
