Stanford volleyball player Kathryn Plummer was awarded the AAU Sullivan Award for the nation’s best amateur athlete of 2018 on Tuesday evening.

Nebraska volleyball player Mikaela Foecke was also one of the eight finalists, and attended the ceremony at the New York Athletic Club in New York City. The other finalists included Central Florida football player McKenzie Milton and North Carolina men’s basketball player Luke Maye. Foecke was also a finalist for the 2015 award.

Past winners include Missy Franklin, Tim Tebow, Michael Phelps, Peyton Manning, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Bobby Jones.

Plummer was the college volleyball national player of the year in both 2017 and ’18. A college volleyball player has won the award two of the past three years (Wisconsin setter Lauren Carlini won 2016).
