ELMWOOD -- Mike and Cyndi Craig have carried on the tradition of fun and friendliness at Grandpa’s Woods Golf Course northeast of Elmwood.
Having worked at the family-owned course for the past several years, the Craigs leased the property and clubhouse in 2015 from Rex and Donna Clements. The course and clubhouse have been in the Clements family for more than 50 years.
Cyndi Craig says they introduced a mixed golf league three years ago and expanded the clubhouse menu, while retaining the inviting atmosphere that has been a crowd favorite for more than a half-century. “My husband is in charge of the course, and I’m in charge for the clubhouse,” said Cyndi.
Just a 30-minute drive from Lincoln and 15 minutes from nearby state parks, Grandpa’s Woods is a cozy, par-30 executive course where success is measured more on having a good time than it is on your scorecard.
Grandpa’s Woods sells memberships and is open for public play. It operates a men’s league, and a kids’ league in the summer. Open golf is available most of the time. The course is open seven days a week from sunup to sundown, and tee-time reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. Grandpa's Woods offers an all-day greens fee special of $25 per golfer every weekday.
The inviting atmosphere carries over to the clubhouse, where you’ll find your favorite beverage and a plentiful snack bar. A party room is available upstairs, and a small pro shop carries essentials.
To get to Grandpa’s from Elmwood, go two miles north, one mile east, and a half-mile north.
