PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. -- The LA Sports & Entertainment Commission will host its 13th annual LASEC Golf Classic on May 21 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. One of the most recognized sports commentators, Jim Nantz, lead anchor and play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports, will be given the prestigious LASEC Sports & Entertainment Ambassador Award of Excellence in honor of his many accomplishments in the sports broadcasting field.
Past recipients of the award include Al Michaels, Pam Shriver, Coach John Wooden, Bill Dwyre, Dick Enberg, Sugar Ray Leonard, Keith Jackson, Vin Scully, Wayne Gretzky and Ed Goren.
Nantz, the multi Emmy Award winning commentator for "Outstanding Sports Personality - Play-by-Play" and five-time National Sportscaster of the Year, has covered virtually every sport for the CBS Television Network since joining it in 1985. He currently serves as the lead anchor of CBS's golf coverage, including the Masters® and the PGA Championship; the lead play-by-play announcer for THE NFL ON CBS, including the Super Bowl; and lead play-by-play announcer for college basketball, including the NCAA Men's Final Four. In 2007 and 2010, Nantz completed a rare broadcasting triple in a 63-day span by becoming the first commentator in history to broadcast the Super Bowl, NCAA Men's Final Four and the Masters, all in the same year.
