Sponsors help make the Spartans Golf Classic a success, and more sponsors are needed. Sponsorship opportunities are available at levels ranging from $25 to $1,000. Corporate and private sponsorships are available for either golf or the silent auction. To become a sponsor or donor, contact SpartanAthleticsGolfClassic@gmail.com.
Volunteers can also register online to help out before, during, or after the golf classic in a variety of ways. Check the Booster Club website for more information.
Proceeds from the golf outing will benefit the more than 600 student-athletes who participate in 19 different sports at Lincoln East High School, 1000 S. 70th St.
Where funds go
Sponsored by the Booster Club, the Golf Classic is the primary fundraiser for Lincoln East High School athletic programs. Success at previous events has helped fund: basketball rebounders and backboards, volleyball standards, end zone cameras, conditioning equipment, a custom wrestling mat and batting cage.
The Booster Club also funded the purchase of bleachers in the east gym and contributed to upgrades in the concession stand. Coaches also benefit from the funds raised at the Golf Classic, and the Athletic Department has provided books, training, and clinics to coaches.
A highlight of the event is the Chris MacKnight Award, presented annually to a supporter of East High Athletics who has shown extraordinary commitment, dedication and support.
The East High Booster Board is accepting nominations for the award. Chris MacKnight was a longtime friend and supporter of East High Athletics, who generously gave of his time to promote the Spartan spirit and tradition. Past winners of the award have included Robin MacKnight, Judy Dyer and Angie Unruh.
