The Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League members have become accustomed to great course conditions, with head pro Tom Erlandson and owner Todd Flodman leading a wonderful staff.
The July 24 Fun Day Shamble had a break in the hot temps, which must have combined with wonderful play for some of the lowest scores seen in this type of event. The Shamble format required all groups to use two tee shots from each member then record one net score from the par 3’s, two from the par 4’s, and three from the par 5’s, with each member receiving 80% of their handicap.
The winning scores of 107 and 108 in all three flights amounted to over 35 under par. The highlight of the day was a hole-in-one on No. 12 by Jim Cunningham on the par-3 over the pond.
The league’s next Fun Day won’t be held until Aug. 23 as a mixer at both Holmes and Mahoney courses, followed by the league’s annual meeting.
