Perfect weather greeted Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League members for their first visit to The Pines Country Club in Valley, Nebraska, Sept. 24 for a Four-Man Shamble Fun Day.
The full field of 128 golfers found a relatively flat course with little elevation changes, maintained well, with clean ponds you could even see errant balls in. Flights A and B had 11 four-man teams, and C had 10.
It will be interesting to see if the low scores are consistent in a return visit. Pin prizes were awarded on hole 1 for closest to the pin in two and hole 18 for longest putt. Those were won by Jerry Petersen and Marv McMichael, respectively. The next Fun Day followed closely on Sept. 26 at a favorite stop -- Iron Horse in Ashland.
