Mid-summer can bring any kind of weather. However, the Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League's July 30 Fun Day at Iron Horse Golf Club at Ashland was a pleasant surprise since it included warm sun, low humidity and no wind. Brian Kuta and his staff always treat the league well and had the course in great condition. The Scramble event featured three flights with nine teams of four in each, computer selected, and the final scores showed how closely all the teams were grouped.
The course yielded some really good scores considering the wide range of handicaps for the various groups. Two pin prizes were awarded: on hole No. 5, closest to the hole on the first shot; and No. 9, the longest putt. Hal Teague and Stan Kuta won those, respectively. The next Fun Day will be Aug. 13 at the Beatrice Country Club.
