The Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon event has been recognized by RaceRaves as the top marathon in Nebraska.
RaceRaves, the leading online race finder and reviews community for runners, recently announced the winners of its “Best Marathons in the U.S.” poll. The top race in each state was selected based on votes from thousands of runners across the country, along with reviews and ratings on RaceRaves.com. More than a laundry list, the handy "who's who" guide helps first-timers and seasoned marathoners alike build their all-star marathon wish list.
Common themes among the winning events included exceptional production and on-course support, strong community involvement, and a scenic course that showcases the beauty and attractions of the local region.

Race directors Nancy Sutton and Gary Bredehoft said in a statement: "We are honored to be named the Best Marathon in Nebraska. This could not have been accomplished without the support of the city, National Guard, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and our loyal sponsors. We thank our volunteers, and most importantly, our runners who choose to run the Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon."
The Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon will celebrate its 42nd running on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Over 13,000 runners will take to Lincoln's streets starting on the UNL campus, with the first half of the course following a loop of the city past local landmarks such as the Nebraska State Capitol, the Country Club neighborhood, Union College, Irvingdale Park and more. The second half consists of a 12-mile out-and-back to Holmes Lake before finishing on Memorial Stadium's 50-yard line. Registration for the 2019 Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon opens Jan. 5.
The Lincoln Track Club coordinates the Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. The LTC is a member club of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and USA Track and Field.
