Meow & Chow

Meow & Chow, an evening of fundraising presented by The Cat House and Lincoln Animal Ambassadors, returns Oct. 15 to the Scottish Rite Temple, 16th and L streets.

Add some warmth and fun to your fall season by attending the seventh annual Meow and Chow. This popular soup supper and bingo night returns Saturday, Oct. 15. The fundraiser is hosted by The Cat House (TCH) and Lincoln Animal Ambassadors (LAA). All proceeds go towards operating expenses for these two non-profit organizations.

About the event

The event will be at the Scottish Rite Temple, 16th & L streets. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the supper begins at 5:30 p.m., and bingo will start at 6:30 p.m. For a $25 admission donation, attendees will have their fill of warm soups, fresh breads, and delicious desserts. All food is donated by local restaurants. One bingo card is also included in the price; hardcore bingo players may purchase additional cards for 25 cents each.

The evening will culminate in a raffle that will feature an iPad Pro 9.7 32 GB Model, Giant mountain bike, and a $200 Target gift card. Watch TCH and LAA websites and Facebook pages for further raffle information. Raffle tickets for grand prizes will be sold in advance. Winners need not be present to win the grand prize. Many other raffle prizes will be available to those who attend the event. Prizes are donated by local companies and friends of the two organizations.

About the groups

Lincoln Animal Ambassadors addresses the root causes of animal homelessness in Lincoln and the surrounding area. The group prevents unwanted animals with its low cost spay/neuter program and keep animals in their homes with an income-based pet food bank.

The Cat House is a safe no-kill shelter and adoption facility for cats in the Lincoln area. The group also runs a Trap/Neuter/Return program for feral cats.

Both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are entirely volunteer-run and funded by donations and/or adoption fees.

Allison Hunter-Frederick is media chair for the Lincoln Animal Ambassadors.
