• Uncle Sam Jam at Oak Lake Park, First and Charleston streets. Activities include fireworks, family activities and games, live music by Soul Dawg and food for sale from vendors. • Join the Capital Humane Society for Tails ‘N Taps, noon-4 p.m., for a beer tour of some of Lincoln's best local breweries. Purchase a "License to Taste" for $25 and receive a free pint of beer from each participating brewery including White Elm, Zipline and Backswing. If any remain, tickets the day of the event will be $35. Food available at each brewery. This is a human-only event, so please leave your pups at home. Must be 21 or older. Aug. 10

• Bring your furry friends to Paws on the Prairie, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., at Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, 11700 SW 100th St., Denton, Nebraska. The Audubon Center is partnering with the Capital Humane Society for this event. Bring your dog or cat (on leash) and enjoy a walk on the prairie, fun and informal presentations on pet and wildlife safety, and pets available for adoption. Dress your furry baby in a nature-themed costume for the Pet Parade for a chance to win prizes for people and pets. Free admission; no reservations needed.
