Omaha taxi cards hoped to thwart drunken driving

OMAHA -- Law enforcement officials are hoping that new prepaid cards for cab fare will put a dent in drunken driving cases in the Omaha area.

The I Care Cab Fare is a prepaid gift card that is accepted by Omaha area cab companies.

The card costs as little as $20, but those purchased through January will come with an additional $5.

Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis said the card takes away any excuse to drive while drunk.

The cards can be bought at any SAC Federal Credit Union.
