Omaha native Allie Swanson won the 2019 Miss Nebraska competition Saturday night at North Platte High School.

Omaha native Allie Swanson won the 2019 Miss Nebraska competition Saturday night at North Platte High School, clinching her spot in the 2020 Miss America competition.

The 24-year-old won almost $12,000 in cash scholarships and a car to use during her "year of service."

Swanson is a graduate of Evangel University and is a master's program student at Bellevue University.

She is a graduate of Millard North High School and is an assistant girls basketball coach for the Mustangs.

Gering native Allison Baird finished second in the competition and will be crowned Miss Nebraska if Swanson can't compete or if Swanson is named Miss America.

The Miss America competition will be held on Sept. 8. The last Miss Nebraska to be named Miss America was Teresa Scanlan in 2011.
