JANSEN — Authorities say a 25-year-old Fairbury man was killed in a collision between a semitrailer and a sport-utility vehicle.
The crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. 136, about 2 miles east of Fairbury. Witnesses say the eastbound SUV swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the truck, which was hauling several pallets of bricks on a trailer.

In a news release Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen said Alexander Joubert, who was driving the SUV, died at the scene.
Marcus Terrell Clifton Ward, a 56-year-old Wisconsin man driving the semi, was treated and released for minor scrapes and bruises.
