Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts has ordered flags lowered Wednesday to observe the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

U.S. and state flags should fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to honor those who died in the attacks.

Also Wednesday, there are at least two Lincoln events to remember 9/11. A Patriot Day ceremony at Antelope Park begins at 10:15 a.m. with the ringing of the Nebraska Liberty Bell, quiet reflection and a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of 9/11 victims.

Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire and Rescue will run the steps at Memorial Stadium in honor of first responders at 6 a.m. and gather for a Patriot Day ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on the north side of the Capitol.
