KEARNEY — Authorities say one driver was killed and another was injured when their pickup trucks collided head-on on a bridge southeast of Kearney.

The accident was reported just after 4:45 a.m. Sunday on the Nebraska 10 bridge over the Platte River south of the Minden I-80 interchange.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says the northbound pickup caught fire after the collision. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Brent Pedersen of Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the southbound pickup, Gary R. Lea, 32, of rural Kearney, was taken to a Kearney hospital.

There were no passengers in either truck.
