2 children killed in crash near Gretna

GRETNA — Two children have died as the result of a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday on Nebraska 370 near Gretna.

The four-vehicle crash happened at about 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of the highway with 192nd Street, according to a release sent by Sarpy County Sheriff's Office.

Preliminary investigation showed a dump truck driven by Jesse Knight, 37, of Papillion struck the rear of a 2016 Toyota minivan stopped at a red light on eastbound Nebraska 370. Passengers in the van were Kristy Young, 37; Levi Young, 14; Hunter Young, 12; Abby Young, 16; and Stephen Young, 10.

Stephen Young died at the scene. Abby Young was pronounced dead at a hospital. Both were students at Millard Public Schools.

In addition to the three survivors in the van, three others in separate vehicles were transported to a hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
