Gov. Pete Ricketts and first lady Susanne Shore celebrated the beginning of Ricketts’ second term as governor Jan. 12 with a gathering of over 2,300 at the 2019 Inaugural Ball at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

During Ricketts’ speech, as he reflected on his first term as Nebraska’s 40th governor, and during Shore’s impromptu speech, both made it clear that the evening’s theme was a celebration of not just the beginning of Ricketts’ second term as governor, but one for all Nebraskans.

The food followed that theme, as guests dug into Nebraska beef flank steaks and a dessert by Lincoln High Society Cheesecakes.

A video highlighted the Nebraskans that Ricketts said he plans to continue to serve diligently. From Fort Robinson’s Intertribal Pow Wow to Wilber’s Czech Days celebration and South Omaha’s Cinco de Mayo Festival, the video emphasized Nebraska’s diversity and cultural history.

Don Bacon, Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith; and several state senators, Nebraska Supreme Court justices and State Board of Education members.
