NEBRASKA CITY — The Arbor Day Foundation has given Doubletree Hotels its Promise to the Earth Award because the hotel chain has shown a commitment to environmental stewardship and education.
The Nebraska City-based foundation says Doubletree employees have worked with more than 100,000 elementary school students through the company’s Teaching Kids to Care mentoring program.
Doubletree has planted more than 75,000 trees through its mentoring program. And the hotel chain has contributed to the planting of another 175,000 trees as part of Arbor Day’s reforestation efforts.
The foundation’s Chief Executive John Rosenow says Doubletree has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the environment and tree planting.
