According to an article in the Journal Star Jan. 9 ("GOP: Electoral change is No. 1"), the top item on the state GOP's legislative agenda is a change in the way Nebraska establishes its Electoral College votes.
I find it hard to believe this topic should even make the top 20 in importance. We certainly have more pressing issues that make a difference in the lives of our citizens. Don't we?
The Electoral College is an outdated manner of electing the president and should be put to rest. I believe if it has to exist, Nebraska's method of casting electoral votes is superior to the way 48 other states handle the process. Other states should emulate Nebraska.
I would hope the political party I've belonged to for 44 years has more important things to accomplish.
