A recent University of Nebraska-Lincoln engineering graduate who helped develop a weed-and-pest-control product has won the Peter Kiewit Student Entrepreneurial Award.
Christopher Bruening helped start Agricultural Flaming Innovations, established last year. It plans to provide safe, energy-efficient flaming equipment and techniques for weed and pest control.
The Peter Kiewit award recognizes University of Nebraska students who try to improve communities and business with creative, innovative uses of information technology.
The award is accompanied by a $2,500 prize.
Bruening earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2006 and his master's degree in 2009, both from UNL.
