Joseph C. Posey, age 86, of Hebron, former Hubbell resident passed away on October 10, 2018, in Hebron. He was born July 30, 1932, in Hubbell, the son of John R. Posey and Mary R (Barrett) Posey. On February 29, 1980, he was united in marriage to Ina (Sue) Cox. Joe's passion was farming and working in his shop with wood and metal, he was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Joe served in several organizations and boards including the Hubbell Lions Club, Hubbell Volunteer Fire Department, Hubbell Elevator Board, Hubbell United Methodist Church trustee, Hubbell Community Hall Board, Hubbell Cemetery Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Posey, parents, John and Mary Posey, two brothers, John Posey and wife Virginia, James Posey and wife Roma, one sister, Lorena H. Shick and husband, Harold, brother-in-law Robert Cox. He is survived by his step-children, Vernie McNamee of Lafayette, La., Jon Kaenel of New Iberia, La., Joni (Michael) Branigan of Papillion, Debra Wallace of Siloam Springs, Ark., Lisa (Kelly) Christensen of Youngsville, La., 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Kathi (Kenneth) Ekeler of York, Mitzi (Terry) Gitlin of Castro Valley, Calif., nephews, nieces and many friends.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, at United Methodist Church, Chester. Inurnment will be in Hubbell Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Joseph Posey Memorial Fund. Friends may sign the register book from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, October 15, at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kan.
