Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced that U.S. and Nebraska flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset Monday to honor the victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The Nebraska announcement is in accordance with a similar proclamation by President Donald Trump.
The shooting Wednesday afternoon killed 17 people, and 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder as a result.
“Our hearts go out to the victims of the horrific tragedy in Parkland, Florida,” Ricketts said. “Susanne and I send our thoughts and prayers to all those impacted by this senseless shooting.”
