Mothers of patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha will receive a belated Mother’s Day gift on Monday: free, on-site chair massages from professional massage therapists.
The massages are a gift from Erin and Brian Rea of Lincoln in memory of their daughter Adelyn, who died Nov. 11, 2014, just 11 days after her birth.
“I’ve been the mother of a sick child in the PICU, so I know firsthand the stress and anxiety these mothers experience,” said Erin Rea. “We want to honor them, support them and offer some much-deserved relaxation.”
In addition to the massages, the Rea family has coordinated several efforts to help patients and families at Children’s. They have donated books and blankets, as well as care packages for parents and goodie bags for kids. To learn more about the Rea family’s charitable work visit LoveAdelyn.com.
“It’s our way of paying it forward, and honoring the memory of our sweet daughter,” said Erin. “Adelyn was a little girl who was with us for a little time, but her life can still have a big impact.”
