The Lincoln Stamp Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary during its annual LINPEX stamp show next weekend.
About 1,500 people typically attend the two-day event that features stamp displays, dealers and a popular beginners table where kids can buy stamps for a penny each and adults can buy stamps for a nickel each.
Information tables include the American Philatelic Society, Lincoln Stamp Club, Postal History Society, United States Stamp Society and the Vatican Philatelic Society.
Stamps and stamp collections will be evaluated free of charge, and the U.S. Postal Service will sell and cancel stamps with a special LINPEX postmark.
The show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Omaha Room of the Country Inn and Suites, 5353 N. 27th St. Admission and parking are free.
The club will mark its anniversary with the release of a special show cover that honors the 50th anniversary of The Wilderness Act, which established a national wilderness preservation system.
Collectors can buy copies of the special cover at the show for $2.50 each or order them at www.lincolnstampclub.org or by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Joel Johnson, 3240 Sheridan Court, Lincoln, NE 68506.
