A 57-year-old Homer woman died Sunday in northeast Nebraska after successive rear-end accidents sent her car flying into a ditch, according to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.
Patricia Oldenburg was driving north on U.S. 77 about two miles south of Dakota City when 27-year-old Heather Reisdorph of Sioux City, Iowa, rear-ended her 1997 Buick Skylark, which spun to face south in the opposite lane, Sheriff's Capt. Randy Walsh in an email.
Then, 20-year-old Allina White of Winnebago rear-ended Oldenburg's car with her 2001 Dodge Stratus, sending the Buick into a ditch, Walsh said.
An ambulance took Oldenburg to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, where she died, Walsh said.
Two passengers in her car, 8 and 3, were taken to an Omaha hospital. Walsh declined to release their names and did not have information on their conditions.
