Saltillo Road

County crews will be posting new signs noting a drop in the speed limit on the county-controlled portion of Saltillo Road.

County Engineer Pam Dingman confirmed Tuesday that the speed limit on Saltillo from 27th to 68th streets will be dropping from 55 mph to 50 mph.

Lancaster County commissioners approved the reduction in June, drawing on advice from an engineering study done this spring that relied on data from driver and passenger smartphones to determine vehicle speeds.

Several commissioners had earlier suggested an even lower speed limit — 45 mph, the same speed set on the city-controlled portion of Saltillo Road between U.S. 77 and 27th Street.
