An Internet campaign was launched Friday to urge Scott Kleeb to enter the 2008 Democratic Senate race.
Draft Kleeb appeared on political blogs and plans to launch its own Web site, said spokesman Mike Nellis.
In the wake of former Democratic Sen. Bob Kerrey’s decision not to seek the Nebraska Senate seat, Nellis said, “we need (an) independent leader who will work with both Republicans and Democrats to overcome the challenges that we face.”
Kleeb, the 2006 Democratic congressional nominee in the 3rd District, has said he’ll consider a Senate bid. He is teaching history at Hastings College.
Draft Kleeb said it is not authorized by Kleeb or any political party.
