Voters in Friend on Tuesday approved keno gambling in their town.

Saline County Clerk Linda Kastanek, who serves as the election commissioner, said the unofficial final results were 261 in favor and 97 against, including absentee ballots.

On July 1, the Friend City Council voted to place the keno measure on the November ballot.

Friend City Clerk Debbie Gilmer said the council did not specify how keno proceeds would be used. But Mayor Jim Vossler has said the money would be used for community improvements.

The Sidewaze Sports Bar & Grill asked the council to put keno on the ballot, she said.

Friend is about 46 miles southwest of Lincoln in Saline County.
