The union representing the city of Lincoln's technical and clerical workers has endorsed Leirion Gaylor Baird for mayor.
The 493-member Public Association of Government Employees put its support behind the city councilwoman because she has "the wide-ranging vision for how to move Lincoln ahead for the next phase in our city's history," President Troy Bolender said in a news release.

Gaylor Baird, a Democrat, is vying with fellow City Councilwoman Cyndi Lamm, a Republican, in the officially nonpartisan mayor's race.
The general election is May 7.
