"I love soul music," said Patrick Kadavy as he got to his feet and got into the groove as the 17th annual Friday Nights Live concert series at SouthPointe Pavilions kicked off on June 2 with Lincoln Southwest High School teacher and saxophonist Dr. Ted Larson and his group Soul Dawg, who was joined by Southwest’s jazz band horn section.

Tonight's Friday Nights Live concert at SouthPointe Pavilions has been postponed due to an excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service.

The performance by the band Jarana has been rescheduled for Aug. 30.

Heat index temperatures are expected to range from 107 to 117 degrees into the early evening Friday, according to the weather service.
