Much of east-central Nebraska, including Lincoln and Lancaster County, will experience temperatures at or near freezing that could threaten crops and house plants.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch starting overnight Wednesday and lingering into mid-morning Thursday. The watch covers a swath of the state stretching from just south of Yankton, S.D., to the Kansas state line south of Beatrice.

Temperatures could drop into the upper 20s or lower 30s, the Weather Service said.
