Sydney Aldrich, daughter of Maggie and Collin Aldrich, is an eighth-grader at St. Peter’s School. School officials noted that Sydney always has a smile and works hard to succeed in school. She volunteers for Walt Library events like the summer reading program, Zoo Crew and the Catholic Social Services lunch program. Religious activities include the Knights of Columbus, St. Peter’s Gianna’s Girls, Mass Choir, Lincoln Catholic Schools Honor Choir, Blessed Sacrament Girls’ Choir and Catholic Schools competitive reading program. She plays soccer for Lincoln Lightning and runs for St. Peter’s girls’ cross-country team.

Nicholas McGahan, son of Julie and Chris McGahan, is an eighth-grader at St. Patrick Catholic School. School officials said: “Nick is the definition of involvement. If he can fit it into his schedule, he will do it. He challenges himself to do his best and often achieves excellence. His outgoing personality makes him a joy to have in class.” Nick has made the Pope’s list for Honor Roll (all A’s) for five years. He won first in his class at the science fair for two years. He sings in the Pius X Honor Choir and is active in Boy Scouts, FCSLA Club and the Service Project Club. He plays tuba and trombone for his school’s band and is active in basketball and track.

Tyson Weber, son of Mary and Steve Weber, is an eighth-grader at St. Peter’s School. School officials said they nominated Tyson for his positive attitude, excellent effort and kindness toward others. He is active in St. Peter’s Math Counts and Robotics clubs, and he plays guitar in the school band. He volunteers to help at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach and has held several elected offices in his Boy Scout troop. Tyson’s religious activities include serving as altar boy and Mass reader.

Teya Wimes, daughter of Lena and Ash Wimes, is a seventh-grader at Pound Middle School. School officials said: “Teya is kind, thoughtful and respectful to everyone. She is an outstanding student!” Teya began a venture this year to raise money for a school trip. She does everything from marketing, accounting and product development for a variety of goods focusing on healthier options. Teya is an honor roll student who participates in her school’s book, food and French clubs. She is a level 4 competitive gymnast for Nebraska School of Gymnastics and even summited Deer Mountain at Estes Park, Colorado. She is active in Connecting Pointe Church.
