A loose squirrel in the commons area of Southeast High School during lunch on Wednesday -- thought to be a student prank -- caused "considerable disruption," according to a message sent home to parents.

Principal Brent Toalson said in his message the squirrel was eventually returned outdoors.

But he warned this kind of incident could be quite serious and he said the student or students responsible will face serious consequences.

"We are lucky that staff and students were not harmed, and I am sure this was upsetting to some of our Southeast community."
