Lincoln Police arrested a woman Saturday night on a warrant after she failed to appear in court for sentencing in connection a 12-year-old girl's death a year ago Monday.
Police found Ashley Jackson, 24, hiding in a parked trailer on a lot at North 70th Street and McCormick Drive late Saturday after being called to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle. Jackson was taken to the Lancaster County jail, where she remained Sunday morning.
She pleaded no contest to a child abuse charge in December. She is believed to be the source of painkillers that caused the overdose death of Serena Garrett. The middle schooler and a friend were babysitting Jackson's children on March 25.
Jackson faces up to five years in prison for the felony. It is unclear when she will be sentenced.
