A woman awoke to find three strangers standing in the doorway of her bedroom Monday morning, Lincoln police said.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the 51-year-old woman heard scratching she thought was her cat coming from inside her apartment in the 1000 block of E Street, Officer Angela Sands said.

But a short time later, she woke up to voices and saw the strangers, Sands said.

The woman got up and scared them away, then called police, Sands said.

The woman found a hole big enough for a human to crawl through carved into the drywall that separates her apartment from the community laundry room, police said.

Officers found 35-year-old Holly Rumery hiding in a doorwell inside the building and arrested her on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespassing, Sands said.

Investigators are still looking for the other people involved, she said.
