Two thieves on bikes made off with nine propane tanks from a central Lincoln convenience store Friday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The duo cut a padlock to a metal storage cage at the Super C at 32nd Street and Sheridan Boulevard at about 10 a.m., Officer Angela Sands said.

Each grabbed two 17-pound tanks and rode off, then returned and took more, Sands said. The loss was valued at $450.

Officers had not identified the suspects as of Monday.
