A 57-year-old Lincoln man with a machete threatened to cut off a 20-year-old's foot at Wagon Train Lake State Recreation Area early Tuesday, Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said.

The 20-year-old and a friend told deputies that a stranger, identified by investigators as Kenneth Spidell, approached them, grabbed the victim and held up a machete before threatening to sever his foot, Wagner said.

The two friends ran and called 911.

Deputies arrived and arrested Spidell on suspicion of terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony, the sheriff said.
