A 45-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a domestic assault in Havelock on Friday afternoon, according to Lincoln police.

Officers responded to the 4500 block of North 60th Street just before 4 p.m. on a report of a man in the area with blood-covered hands, according to emergency radio traffic.

The man, identified as 42-year-old Aaron Shultz, was arrested near 60th Street and Havelock Avenue, while the woman, whose name hasn't been released, ended up at a neighbor's house. She was transported to Bryan West Campus with head and chest injuries and a broken finger, according to Lincoln police Capt. Ryan Dale.

According to Dale, the woman intervened when Shultz was allegedly assaulting their dog. This prompted Shutlz to turn on the woman.

Shultz was booked in the Lancaster County jail on suspicion of first-degree domestic assault, strangulation and resisting arrest.
