Two men beat two of their central Lincoln neighbors with a baseball bat and a golf club Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Police called to the 2800 block of Q Street found a 37-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman with head injuries at 4:44 p.m., Officer Luke Bonkiewicz said Thursday.

Investigators said the two got into an argument with Andrew Love, 35, and another man, Bonkiewicz said. The exact reason for the argument wasn't clear Thursday morning but may have involved accusations of a stolen cellphone or back rent.

Love beat the 37-year-old with the bat as the other man, whom police haven't identified, hit him in the shins with a golf club, Bonkiewicz said.

Love then hit the woman in the head with the bat, she told police. She was also hit in the face with the golf club.

The woman had a 2-inch gash on the back of her head and other visible injuries. The man had a bruise on the top of his head, a puncture wound and both of his shins were bleeding, Bonkiewicz said.

Police arrested Love on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault and using a weapon to commit a felony.
