A man seeking to meet up with a woman he encountered at a gas station was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night in a west Lincoln home, a police spokeswoman said.

Just before 8:30 p.m. the 52-year-old man received a text message from the woman asking him to meet her at a home near West South and Southwest Ninth streets, Officer Angela Sands said.

The man later told police he didn't know the woman's name, but he went to the location and followed her inside the home, Sands said.

Once inside the dark home, a man with a gun stepped through a doorway, grabbed him and demanded his belongings, she said.

He gave the robber his phone, wallet and $80, and later flagged down a passing car to report the crime.

Police are working to identify the people involved in the robbery, but no arrests have been made.
