A gunman pointed a handgun at a 27-year-old man and his passenger inside a car stopped at a stop sign in north Lincoln early Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said.

The 2015 silver Nissan Sentra was at the intersection of 42nd and Holdrege streets when the stranger approached the car at 12:30 a.m., Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands said.

The stranger told the driver to get out of the car, Sands said. He and his passenger ran off as the man stole the car.

The victims had only a general description of the man Wednesday.
