One person was killed and two were injured in a crash Sunday afternoon south of Garland.

The crash occurred at about 3:50 p.m. when 20-year-old Paxton Minnig of Lincoln, traveling west on Waverly Road in a 2007 Subaru sedan, ran a stop sign at the intersection of 196th Road, according to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.

Minnig crashed into a 2008 Buick Enclave SUV being driven north by Edward Gonzalez, 53, of Seward.

A passenger, Lily Gonzalez, 56, of Seward, died from injuries en route to a Lincoln hospital, authorities said.

Edward Gonzales was treated and released from Seward Memorial Hospital.

Minnig was transported to Bryan West Campus for treatment of a concussion, according to Seward County Sheriff Mike Vance.

Alcohol and drugs are not thought to be a factor in the crash and all occupants were using seat belts, authorities said.
