Lincoln police are investigating what a 22-month-old boy did while he was missing from a babysitter's house for five hours on Tuesday.

The boy was found wandering alone with his blanket, disheveled and dirty, in the 1200 block of Court Street, Capt. Bob Farber said.

Though he was exposed to temperatures in the 40s, the boy was cleared by medics and returned to his family.

"By all accounts, the child was fine,” Farber said.

A babysitter last saw the boy around 8:30 a.m. when he was placed in a play pen at a home in the 1100 block of New Hampshire Street, about two blocks from where he was found.

Investigators were still looking into why the boy wasn't reported missing until 11:35 a.m., Farber said.

He was found just before 2 p.m.

Officers later Tuesday were still conducting interviews, and no one had been ticketed, Farber said.
